Felkins will sign a romance novel at Tybrisa Books
Aug. 12—LENOIR — Lovers of Christian fiction are invited to join Tybrisa Books in welcoming local author Mary A. Felkins as she shares and signs her new novel, “You Are The Reason,” today , Saturday August 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Felkins is an inspirational contemporary romance author, administrator of the writer’s blog Seriously Write, and contributor to Refresh, an online Bible study magazine. In 2015, she received a bronze medal for her stage submission to the Frazier competition from My Book Therapy. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers and My Book Therapy.
Originally from Texas, Felkins and her husband, Bruce, moved to Hickory in 1997.
“‘You Are The Reason’ asks the question, ‘what if you didn’t want your inheritance but it offered you your greatest dream?’ “, said Felkins. “The book is about our reluctance to do the thing God has called us to do; it’s about what we become in difficulties and answers the call to pursue a dream.”
In “You Are The Reason”, Everley Scott inherits Moreland Manor and reluctantly agrees to fulfill his mother’s last wishes to restore the house to its former glory. With the help of historic restoration specialist Gabe Bellevue, who has had a crush on her since high school, Everley begins to restore the mansion and quickly discovers love in both the present and the past.
“You Are The Reason” is technically the second book in Felkins’ Heart of Moreland Manor book series, as she wrote a new prequel titled “This I Promise You.” She has signed a contract to publish two additional books in this series.
Felkins said his contemporary romance novels are clean and always have happy endings.
“The hero and the heroine end up together in the end,” she said. “That’s what romance needs. I’m a happily ever after fan, the Bible being the best ever, you can’t get any better. I love this genre and it makes my heart happy. “
Felkins also noted that if she meets someone with a first or last name she likes, she will include their name in one of her novels.
Saturday’s event isn’t the first time Felkins has signed her novels to Tybrisa Books.
“They were very kind,” she said. “I love it. Their customers are loyal and supportive of local authors, and I’m thrilled to have a working relationship with them.”
