Firewatch audio commentary now available as a free eBook
Now that we’re all locked in our homes for the foreseeable future, Panic, the publisher of Firewatch, is helping us revisit the forests of Wyoming with a free transcript of the Firewatch Audio Tour.
Announcement on Twitter, the transcript is more than just a convenient way to read some Firewatch development information. An introduction from Panic’s Cabel Sasser explains that due to “time constraints”, the original audio tour lacked subtitles, making it inaccessible to many people.
âSo over the course of a few years, I gradually transcribed all of the tracks from Firewatch Audio Tour, and they’re all put together in there, for you,â Sasser writes. “My apologies in advance: there will almost certainly be typos and mistakes as I made my way to the finish line.”
The Firewatch audio tour arrived a few months after launch, adding over three hours of commentary from the game’s developers and voice cast. Here, that translates to 175 pages of information on everything from writing the tangled web of in-game character relationships to the finer aspects of lighting and optimizing Firewatch’s misty mountain trails.
Two years after the release of Firewatch, Campo Santo teased the superb follow-up to In The Valley Of Gods. Unfortunately, the developer was subsequently snapped up by Valve – and while it looked like the game would be reworked as a Valve project, it was ultimately put on hold when the developers of Campo switched to Half-Life: Alyx and various projects. by Valve.
