Natsume Akatsuki KonoSuba The light novel series has reached 10 million copies in circulation, the series editor announced on his Twitter account on Saturday.
Akatsuki took to his Twitter account to share the news with fans, saying, “I’ve heard that the total number of copies of KONOSUBA has passed 10 million. It’s thanks to everyone who supported the show, so thank you! In the preview for the next volume of KONOSUBA’s first volume, Aqua says something like “I am sure I will sell 10 million copies”, and it has become a reality.
The series follows the adventures of Satoko Kazuma, a sloth who is transported to another world after his embarrassing death. He, alongside the goddess Aqua and his companions Darkness and Megumin, set out to defeat the demon lord of the world, but their individual whims and collective incompetence make this task difficult.
After the success of the short web novel, Akatsuki will start on the KonoSuba light novel in 2013. The series was illustrated by Kurone Mishima and was published under the Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint from 2013 to 2020.
A spin-off light novels series centered on Megumin and Yunyun titled, KonoSuba: An explosion on this wonderful world!, took place from July 2014 to June 2015, totaling three volumes. Another spin-off titled Consultation with this masked devil! was released in 2016, and followed the misadventures of Aqua, Wiz and Vanir. A third spin-off, KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! Extra attention to this wonderful fool!, released in 2017 and has so far amassed seven collected volumes.
A manga adaptation of the light novel began serialization in 2014, published in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine. An adaptation of the Explosion on this Wonderful World! The spin-off was published in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive imprint from 2016 to 2017.
Studio DEEN adapted the light novel into two long seasons of 10 episodes and two OVAs, from 2016 to 2017. In 2019, JC Staff released a feature film, KonoSuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! Legend of crimson, who adapted the fifth volume of the light novels.
Yen Press publishes the light novel and the manga adaptation alongside the An explosion on this wonderful world! spin off. Crunchyroll owns the streaming rights to the animated series, while Discotek Media distributes the physical versions.
A third season of the anime has been given the green light, although no release date has yet been announced.
