Middlesex, NC Author’s Debut Novel Released
A new novel written by Nash County-based Rose Cushing is out now. lucky tidesCushing’s first novel, begins in the quaint town of New Bern, North Carolina, and features a young girl growing up there.
During her youth, the heroine spent many happy hours wandering the swamps of Hobucken, fishing in the Bay River and sailing from Oriental. The heroine becomes a successful magazine editor in Raleigh, who discovers that she is the sole heiress to a fortune.
The novel is about how everyone dreams of waking up rich one morning, but is that all you think it would be. lucky tides is filled with adventure, romance and intrigue set in the waters of the Caribbean.

Rose Cushing, owner of Cushing Media, has had success in several media fields. She produced North Carolina’s first weekly equestrian television show about the North Carolina horse industry for the past twelve years. It publishes the first equestrian monthly. magazine, Caroline Hoofbeats, featuring Carolina Cavaliers in 2011 for four years; it became a regional publication Southeast clogs for six more years.
Cushing got her start in writing as the marketing director and editor of Spring Hope Enterprise. She then became marketing director and editor at the Daily Southerner in Tarboro, North Carolina.
Cushing is also the producer of other award-winning television shows such as From the Ground Up, From the Judges Perspective and Herd This. In 2021, Cushing launched the first podcast to exclusively feature women in the equestrian industry, Todays Horsewoman, which reached audiences nationally and in 42 countries.
Rose is an International Film Festival award-winning documentary filmmaker for her film about Hurricane Florence and the extensive damage to eastern North Carolina, A flood of tears.
His latest venture will be producing a new Carolina Writers Speak podcast based on writers from both Carolinas that will give them a platform to discuss their works and encourage others in their profession.
Cushing currently lives in Middlesex, North Carolina where she raises horses, gardens and enjoys many facets of her career.
