Punjab University Punjabi-English Dictionary Book Output Function

Chandigarh 2 Aug 2022- Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today released the Punjabi-English Dictionary prepared by the Department of Punjabi Lexicography, published by the Publications Office, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He stressed the importance of bilingual regional languages in the context of the new education policy. The dictionary contains vocabulary from Semitic, Sanskrit sources and dialects of the Punjabi language prevalent in Punjabi. In addition, the conceptual, literary and technical vocabulary of the various social sciences has also been integrated into this monumental work of nearly 950 pages. The dictionary, we are sure, would meet the academic needs of Punjabi and English translators, researchers, teachers and students.
Prof. Kamal Nain, Director, Publications Office, Panjab University, Chandigarh, welcomed the worthy Vice Chancellor, Dean of University Education, faculty members and all others present at the function. He also informed about the publication of the dictionary in detail. Professor Uma Sethi shed light on the preparation and lexical issues encountered while editing and compiling the dictionary. She also insisted on the various aspects of this dictionary. She expressed her gratitude for the support of the Authority of UP, the former Honorary Director of the Bureau of Publication, Prof. Gurpal Singh Sandhu and the President of the School of Punjabi Studies, Prof. Sarabjit Singh. Teacher. Yog Raj Angrish, Prof. OP Vasishta, Dr. Akwinder Kaur Tanvi, Sh.Jatinder Maudgil, Director of PU Press, Public Relations Officer of PU, Researchers and IT experts involved in the process of informatization, Kulwinder Singh and Rashpal Singh as well as technical staff of the Bureau of Publications honored the occasion.
